The BOLD Coast of Maine 2017 (and Puffins too!!!)

Based in Lubec, Maine this workshop starts on Wednesday July 12th at 3pm & ends on Sunday July 16th around noon. This workshop INCLUDES a PUFFIN BOAT Cruise (value of ~ $140 is included in your workshop fee).  Not guaranteed to land due to tidal concerns but in 95% of the excursions we’re able to land on the island to photograph these entertaining birds up close! We will maximize our time in the field shooting a multitude of subjects as well as including two classroom style image review sessions.  The fee for this comprehensive workshop with two workshop leaders is only $799.00 per person.  A $449 Deposit is an available option in the Buy Now button below.

Note: Workshop fee Includes boat ride ($140 value) to photograph the Puffins!

Concerned about what lens you’ll need?  Don’t be as the Puffins are fairly close to us when we land on the island and go into blinds.  A 70-300mm lens on a crop sensor camera (Nikon D5300/D7200 or Canon Rebel/70D/7D) will be fine. On a full frame camera a 100-400mm, or 80-400mm, focal length is recommended.

Tucked into the far northeast corner of Maine is the fishing village of Lubec.  Once a thriving fishing community, Lubec is now a quiet coastal town surrounded by the remnants of their fishing legacy and the rugged, sprawling Bold Coast.  Lubec features Quoddy Head Lighthouse, fishing harbors, and nearby Campobello Island (Passport required) as well as many photographic opportunities along the coast.  We will spend one day observing and photographing the rare Atlantic Puffin offshore on nearby Seal Island.

We will maximize our time in the field shooting a multitude of subjects as well as incorporating classroom instruction and image critiques.

In this workshop we will cover:

Use of Lenses
Use of Light Modifiers
Subject Development
Creative Thinking
Shooting in Low Light
Long Exposures
Use of Filters (Polarizers and ND)
Includes two Image review sessions with all other ‘workshop time’ in the field
Image Processing examples illustrated during the review session/s

Terms & Conditions for 2017: – A deposit, or full payment, is required to reserve a ‘seat’.  Within Thirty (30) days prior to the start of the workshop deposits are non-refundable unless we can fill your ‘seat’ with someone else. Then, you receive a full refund minus a $75 cancellation handling fee – Within Forty-Five (45) days prior to the start of a workshop any balance is due for payment in full – Last minute cancellations resulting in hotel charges are the responsibility of the workshop attendee – Cancellations for a workshop where a boat, van, entrance fee or other segment where payment was incurred before the start of the workshop by NEPW to reserve that segment the attendee will forfeit reimbursement for those fees.
